Trinidad and surroundings

For today there was nothing particular planned and I just took it easy in the morning.
I had a coffee in the sunshine on the terrace together with the two Italians. As I was not in a rush for anything I spent some time on the terrace, writing my blog and planned the next couple of days. I wanted to spread out the remaining days I had in Cuba across a couple of different places. On one hand I didn't want to be bored and just sit on the terrace and read or write and drink coffee, on the other hand, I felt it would be ok to take it easy as well.
I think it was time for me to head back home to Yuni and a familiar environment, have a pint with my friends in an nice Irish pub or walk along the Pier in Dun Laoghaire, or just sit on my own couch and do nothing. I think i finally have become homesick. But I didn't want that to spoil my last couple of days.
There were still a couple of places that had to be visited, that I would probably never get the chance to visit again, so I had to get my ass up and go for the last stretch of 10 days.
What I needed to do is get out for a walk and explore the more unusual places of this town. But before I did that I wanted to book my ticket for tomorrow to Santa Clara. I went to the Viazul Bus office but had to find out that it only opened at 1pm, so I had a little over an hour to kill, which I used by walking around town aimlessly and visiting the Sanchez residence which was owned by one of the Sugar Baron families and housed a museum of colonial architecture. This was not a bad way to waste an hour and I had the chance to see a very old gas lighting system and a fancy shower which sprayed water not just from above, but from all around (like one of those modern ones, but very old). Also, I enjoyed that by now I did understand a fair amount of what the old, spanish speaking lady was telling me about the place.
After that I went back to the bus station and got my ticket and stopped by the Casa for a short while. For the two Italians it was the last day in Trinidad, so I said goodbye and headed out from there to the North of the town. On my map I could see there was a hill and a viewpoint, so I went that direction and passed through some poorer and not touristy parts of the village. I also came by the entrance of a cave which housed a club. But since it was just after lunchtime there was nothing going on.
Further up the hill, the viewpoint turned out to be a radio tower. The view was not quite as magnificent as I had hoped but it was better than the ceiling of my bedroom in the casa. Also, the fact that there were many warning signs on the fence of the Radio tower gave me the impression that it is a sort of secret military facility which made the whole trip a little more exciting and rewarding. Before being shot I went back down to the casa and as it was very hot I was happy to be back in the room and have a big sip from the cheap water I purchased the day before, that was waiting from me in the fridge.
With the help of Elio (the owner of the Casa, with some Italian roots - which is also the reason that he is know by Italian visitors, like my friends) I found a place to stay in Santa Clara for the next two nights.
I spent the next couple of hours writing on the blog and reading the new book I had, which really started to get interesting now.
Later that evening I went out for dinner again and watched a crazy post apocalyptical film from 1959 - "The World the flesh and the devil".
