Since the Muezzin and the exhaust pipes of the Mini Buses kept waking me up every now and then anyway I wasn't too upset when the alarm clock rang at 04:20 this morning.
Packing the rest of the things into the bag and down to reception to pick up our security deposit. The taxi also arrived within minutes and we were off to the airport where we arrived just 30 minutes later. No unpleasent surprises and the taxi cost as mych as we were told.
We had plenty of time to spare and found a free wifi which we used while waiting for the check-in to begin.
Interestingly our tickets (cheap as they were with 22 €) didn't include the Airport charge of 35000 Rupees (a bit more than 2€), which we had to pay cash at the airport. At least the security over here is nice enough to let us carry the 1.5 l bottle of water onboard the plane.
Our carrier was Lion Air, and it is surly better than Ryanair (we at least have seat designations). Both of us slept pretty much through the entire flight. We still did not have any place to stay and just had a quick look at what was available when we had internet.
Before we got our bags we visited one of these Hotel booking counters you always see at the airport and booked a hotel that we though would be ok. We even took the slightly more expensive one as we thought the difference of 7€ per night won't make much of a difference.
A good decision as it turned out. When we arrived at the driveway of our Hotel the door was opened for us and we walked into an impressive foyer with a fountain and marble floor.
The room was on the first floor at the end of a long carpeted hallway and had two big beds, a TV, Mini bar, bath tub and even a cattle to make tea.
This was definitely the nicest place we had stayed at this trip. This Four Star accommodation cost us only 65 € for two nights.
First thing we did was to recharge our batteries with a nap in those beds.
Unfortunately we discovered that both our pocket knifes (a Leatherman and an Opinel) were gone from our checked luggage. Someone at the security check must have removed them from our bags.
After a short walk through the city we quickly realized there was not much to be done in Nagoya which made the choice of our luxury hotel even better.
The pool was a very welcome alternative to the heat of the city. As I am Basti's Pizza dude we decided to go for one together and in the case of Nagoya the choice was obvious. It had to be Bella Italia at the Harbour Mall. Good coincidence here was that we had to look for ferry tickets back to Singapore anyway at the Harbour.
A short walk later we found the ticket offices and also the Pizzeria. The prices for the Pizza were close to Irish prices but once in a Holiday that would be ok. The Pizza was not bad but nothing special to be honest.
When we got back to the Hotel we decided to play a couple of rounds of pool in the Saloon-like Bar within the hotel. We were the only guests and the beer was frozen. It was still fun and on TV was the replay of England vs. Germany.
