On Sunday morning it was only a quick shower, a bit of breakfast and then grabbing the bag
to go.
My lovely girlfriend was brave enough to drive me all the way out to the airport and made
it back safely. I got through the check in and security no problem
and went on to get some Irish salmon at Wright's of Howth as I have
arranged to meet up with my Mom in Frankfurt. And of course I
couldn't show up without a thank you for making all the way down from
Duesseldorf.
On the plane I realized that the “window” seat I asked for was more of a “wall” seat
as it was in the emergency exit row which didn't' have any windows. But, fair enough, this shouldn't be a problem. When I got to Frankfurt I had a bit of a stroll through the vast airport until my Mom arrived. It was the first time she met without glasses, so there was plenty of catch up to do. After a bit of dinner, the excitement for the trip ahead increased and the time to take off decreased.
The plane I was about to take was an Airbus A380 and it is pretty impressive when you see
it through the windows and are about to board. I quickly found my seat and got comfortable. There was an USB socket to charge the phone so “no worries” when I get there. Dinner was nice actually. It was spicy beef with rice and for Airplane food, you really couldn't complain. The films I chose to watch were not really satisfactory (Pacific Rim = Very bad & The Berlin File = it was ok) but killed the time. A couple of sets of a few minutes of sleep in embryo position also got me through the flight.
