The day started well with a Breakfast made by Brad. Toast, Bacon and Eggs... and a couple of cups of coffee.
For some reason we decided we needed to go to the mall, so Jerry, Brad and I went out to a Westfield shopping centre.
I got a new case for my phone (one that may actually protect it from a fall) and Jerry got an AFL ball (just like a rugby for me).
On they way back from the mall Brad asked me if I wanted to go to the beach or to the mountains. I decided the mountains because... I am actually not really sure why.
Brad also suggested to meet up with his friend who lives up there and is an Aborist (a person who works with trees - wow another new word).
We found his nice house up a very steep driveway in between loads of trees and we all jumped
straight back into the car and went for ride.
We came by a part of the forest that had art figures in it between the trees and went on to a pub. That was really all we did related to trees that afternoon.
So we went to the pub, which was much nicer than the other Australian Pubs I had seen so far and was quite happy to also see "Old speckled hen" ale there aka "the one with the duck". It soon turned out that the first Australian Pub I liked was an English Theme Pub. But even more thrilling than that was the fact that they had Kangaroo fillet on their menu.
It was medium rare and tasted very tender and smooth. Another tick on my Aussie Bucket list - Just the Koalas were missing.
We dropped of Brads friend (sorry I can't recall his name but it was also something with a B) and headed back home.
I was getting kind of tired at this point already, maybe from the "old speckled hen" maybe from the past busy couple of days, but instead of heading back in and onto the couch we went to check out Jerry's new AFL ball and I was taught how to throw it. It was not the most graceful sight, I would imagine but the ball flew fairly ok.
We passed it back and for a few times and even the dog participated a bit.
After a short sprint we headed back home and finally hit the couch and turned on the TV. Ahhh.... how lovely are a couch and a TV...
Soon (too soon) later we all got bit hungry and Brad decided to show me an Asian part of town, where one Asian restaurant is next to the other.
We all agreed on Pho (It was more than a month since I had left Vietnam) and I already looked forward to it, especially when Brad pointed out that it's the best Pho place in Melbourne...maybe Australia...possibly the southern hemisphere.
But it was closed!!! :-( We were too late.
So we walked up and down the road a bit and found a very authentic looking Chinese place with plenty of ducks hanging in the window.
The hope that it being full of Chinese, indicated good food was confirmed by my tasty duck on rice and I was stuffed to the gills.
Back home I browsed the web a bit to work out the best way to the airport to catch my early flight on Monday and to find a tourist trip to Phillip Island to see the penguins.
I booked the Penguin trip for Sunday.
