A bit of Relaxation...

No.... we didn't see why this was supposed to be such a nice town. Didn't really take the time to look around and just drove on to our next destination.

To get early to Hanmer springs we just stopped off once and dhd breakfast in a salmon fishing place in Rakaia.

Now, Hanmer springs, really is a lovely town. Really touristy because of the hot springs but (probably because of that) very nice.

Many restaurants and cafes all along the relatively quiet main road.

Driving down the road we looked for accommodation and there was lots to choose from. All had vacancies.

We drove all the way through the village to Greenacres Chalets and Villas and thought we migt give this a try.

Edwin at the reception was very friendly and did a great job in showing us two kinds of rooms to choose from. One nice and large but then he showed us number 14, which was a large cabin, with two little balconies overlooking the valley and the town, a nice living and dining area a separate room for me and all in all really nice.

We immediately fell in love with the room although it was 30 $ more expensive and wanted to stay two nights so we could then head back in the afternoon of the 7th to Christchurch and I could get my flight in the morning of the 8th. We could have rested a bit in this nice place and do some hiking, walking through the village and eat some nice food.

But then it turned out that the room, or in fact any room in the entire village was only available for one night as there was a bank holiday weekend (Waitangi Day - 06.02) around the corner and everyone in the cities comes to places like Hanmer (and maybe even Geraldine?!).

We still took the Villa for a night and Edwin really tried everything to find us a room in another place in town for the second night.

To get the most out of the short stay at this nice place we stayed in the apartment and wrote our blog and relaxed for three hours before we went out to find some food.

Somehow we stumbled upon another Irish pub and this one served great bangers and mash.

Back at our lovely place we continued the photo session with the rest of the Nepal pictures and the ones from Thailand.
