Refugio Las Torres to Acampar Torres

They day started great. The coffee was strong, the breakfast was the usual, the sun was out and the tent was packed up in record time.
We had to pass by the Hotel anyway as it was on the way to our next camp and why not freshen up in marble toilets with flower baskets rather than the stinky toilets on the camp ground?
Today's trek was going to bring us up to the Camp Los Torres close to the famous rock massive of Torres de Paine. There we would camp the and get up really early to see the sunrise at the Torres. After this we would decent down and pass the Hotel again on our way to the backside of the entire massive.
So instead of carrying all our food up to 800m and back down again we prepared a bag which we left at the Hotel and just brought up what we needed for one night and one breakfast.
That was a great idea and a big relief to carry up a much lighter bag now as the path was properly steep. We made it up pretty quick and past even the place where we planned to have lunch and just pushed on to the Camp Los Torres.
Set up tent - again, setting up the tent has also be come a well trained work flow and everyone knew what to do. - Record time again.
We rewarded ourselves with a nice cup of hot tea from the cooker and a couple of cookies, we shared with the girls from the states we had met the day before - and once again here. Once you are on the same path and at the same speed you obviously run into each other again and again.
Now it was time to check out the touristy highlight of this trek: The Torres.
It was just under an hour of a steep climb through a forest with lots of little streams and later over a larger boulder field up to 800m.
Just passing over the crest we spotted the marvellous three peaks of the Torres.
The tallest of the three is towering 2000m above the lake at it's foot (straight down). Somewhere in between we could make out a glacier field and could just about judge the relations.
It was very impressive to stand there... this view was one of the main reasons I wanted to visit Chile. There we were... at the end of the world at a magnificent view, great weather, tired legs and just happy.
The mandatory Jump Photo was a success and there was not much more we could do here now than enjoy.
Soon the craving for a nice hot meal grew in us and we went back down to the camp.
Today's recommendation by the chef was: Ravioli with Tomato Sauce and lots of Chilli in it. GREAT!!!!
It was really filling and tasted as good as the best Pasta in Italy would if you just drove around Rome in a tourist bus for the day.
We brewed up another pot of tea but had to escape back to the tent very soon as the mosquitoes wanted to have their dinner as well.
Our desert was a bag of very sweet Chilean Gummibaerchen.
The tent was at a great location, near a little creek, away from most of the other tents, so we sat there, with an open door (mosquito net closed of course), drinking some whisky and enjoying the view into the dark forest.
Tomorrow was going to be an early day if we wanted to get up to the Lake again before the sun did.
