Treasure Hunting

No Cancellations have come in that Edwin or his friend at another motel have heard of. We had to find a new place. Edwin had only one more place that could have a room but it would be a big room and very expensive he said.

We rang up the place and it was a place for 7 people and it cost 300 $ the night. We really didn't need anything more than three beds and four walls but there was nothing else left, so we drove down to the place to have a look. It was quite big but not as nice as the villa we had before which was just above half the price of this. We had to make a call and the call was to take it.

A slight advantage was that the Motel was located very centrally, literally across the street from the Hot springs that Hanmer Springs is all about.

We had a look at the entrance to the springs and the adjoining information centre to find out what kind of hikes would be available in the region.

Despite the the rain that even came down here on the east coast some of the hiking trails were still closed due to fire hazards, but there were some walks we could do right behind our new accommodation.

After we had our breakfast we set out and went Geocache hunting.

There were 3 fairly straight forward caches in the area where we wanted to hike and we found them all on our 9 km walk around the forest.

The reward for the three finds was ice cream and after that a rest in one our expensive Motelrooms.
Aside from resting in the actual sense of resting there was also a good bit of admin and research work for the next couple of places I was going to travel and blogging to be done.

We became a little bit letagic on the couch and had to force ourselves a bit to get up again. But there was live music at 9 at OFlynn's Irish pub and a bit of hunger also creeped up again.

The atmosphere in the pub was great... tourists and locals from the next town on their stag nights were all happy about the bank holiday weekend and the music did it's bit to a great night.

Songs of Ireland made me homesick(ish) while we kept the pitchers of Tui Ale coming.

It was a good, long night!
