Monsoon

I was told the snorkelling in Hin Wong bay was some of the best on the island (or in the entire gulf of Thailand at that). So it was a no brainer that the day had to be started with a quick round over the rocks down from my balcony.

It was indeed as beautiful as promised. I saw many of the fish I got to know during our diving trips. There were parrot fish, Butterfly fish(the yellow ones that always show up in pairs), the finned, Longfin Bannerfish, trigger fish and rabbit fish.

It was really nice and relaxing and certainly made me hungry for breakfast which consisted of a large portion of spicy port with cashew nuts and rice!

I met a Belgium couple and we decided to meet up in the evening after their dives. My task for the day was to return the key from the Taco Shack hostel, that I accidentally stole and pick up my sandals that I left there.

I just made it to the hostel when it started pouring down again. This time it was a proper tropical downpour (as far as I can judge this). The streets turned into drainage channels and no one moved until it eased off a bit. Luckily this hour or two I could spend in the protected area of the hostel while reading my book.

When it cleared a bit I made my way back to Sairee to meet AT but the earlier experience of the weather today prevented us from doing anything too exciting. We pushed off our plan to kayak across the channel to Koh Yuan Nang, a little island off the coast of Koh Tao.

After a short trip back to the apartments we returned back to Sairee beach and just arrived in time to witness an unforgettable sunset.

It was more beautiful than I ever imagined and than the pictures show. Unfortunately Yuni was far, far away from this sunset and we have to come back here to see it again together.

In the evening we did meet up with my Belgium friends Olivier and Chloe for dinner. Chaudie from Canada also joined us at SuChilli where I chose the Penang Curry (that was still on my list of foods to try - Darragh made me do it).

It was, as expected, very good.

Back at the Apartments we talked for a while and moved on to the pool when the owners indicated that they wanted to go to bed, by turning off the lights.
