Santa is coming

"Good Morning and Happy Christmas everyone!"

This is certainly not what it felt like this morning with the sun shining and the birds tweeting on the camp ground.

After a nice cold shower we packed up our gear and hit the road again. Everything was closed but the petrol station (where I was reminded by a very enthusiastic security guard not to look at my phone because it may let the petrol station exploded).

We had some ice cream and then drove into the hinterland of Queensland.

Esk was a town a couple of hundred km south west of Noosa which we thought we may be able to find a spot (again the coast during this time is incredibly busy).

The roads off the main highway got smaller and curvier and really nice to drive on this sunny day. We came along some man made water reservoirs with dams and some water sport possibilities.
They were busy but we were not allowed to camp here over night.

When we came into Esk, we did find a camp ground that was open (after we called up the number posted on the door).

It was a really nice camp ground with all the facilities and even a pool.

It wasn't cheap with 48 $ to put up a tent on a non-powered spot, but it was the only thing we had.
We put up our tent near some trees to have some shade in the morning and went to the a close by petrol station to get some pasta and sauce for dinner.

Also we found a burger place that was open and had lunch.

Karsten and I explored the surroundings and the very quiet of Esk. As it was Christmas day it was even more quite than it probably is on a normal day.

It was literally like a ghost town with a car or truck coming down the road every 5 minutes or so.

What Esk did not have in business it made up in Churches and farmer markets.

For a town with 1755 people living in it there were a lot of facilities, like a bowling pitch community, centre, library, basket ball and tennis courts, a couple nice parks and playgrounds and even a pretty large skate park.

Live must be nice but very boring here.

Anyway, we went back to the camp ground and had our Christmas dinner: Pasta with creamy sauce and a bottle of wine.

After this we spent some hours playing cards and Karsten tried to teach us Skat ( a pretty complicated German card game I never understood).

This made our brains hurt after some time and we changed to a Chinese, not so complicated card game, which was obviously taught to us by Lulu.
