Dive shops and Tacos

It was not surprising that I woke up a little late today but luckily still early enough to return the bike in time to not pay for anohter day.

I was without a bike now but still need to get around town because I wanted to do some research on my next adventure - Cenote Diving!

Trip Advisor suggested the best place to do some Cenote/Cave diving would be La Calypso (this nymph seems to be ever present in my recent dives).

However, I cycled to the location in town where the shop should be located but couldn't find it. Asking the man in the bakery/coffee place around there he hadn't heard of it before.

So I continued my search for a dive shop and quickly found a good looking one (they are as present here in Tulum as in Isla Mujeres - it seems to be the gateway for cave diving in Mexico). This shop was called "infinity 2 diving" - also a cool name, so I went in and got an overview of the trips they are doing from a cool looking dude who was very passionate about diving. There was no one else in the shop, so he took his time going into every detail of the different dive sites and even explained some of the specialized equipment that one needs if you should go cave diving.

Now, I don't have a cave diving certification but what we are planning to do was not cave diving, as on our path through the caves we were always going to be within viewing distance of an opening to the surface, making it cavern diving for which you do not require a specialized certification. Sort of gray area if you ask me but who would refuse based on a formality like that?
We literally chatted for about an hour and a half about the dives, my trip so far, diving in general and all kind of stuff. Finally we settled on two very interesting dives for tomorrow (it was already to late to go today). We agreed on a price and all was set. Tomorrow we would be visiting Centoes "The Pit" and "Dos Ojos".

And this was basically all I did for the day. I cycled back to the hostel and soon it started to look like rain again, so I had a little nap in a hammock, relaxed and took it easy for the rest of the day.
In the evening a similar spectacle repeated itself as everyone in the hostel had beers, ran across the road (through the rain again) to get tacos and chatted long into the night.
This time however I may have been a bit too optimistic with the home made hot-sauce that was offered.
