Refugio Grey to Puerto Natales

It was a short night somehow and I had not a lot energy left in the morning to dry and pack up everything and go. Just though I'd be nice to just be back at the Hostel in Puerto Natales. Maybe it's true... the last kilometres are the hardest.
The coffee helped a little and but then the bag for the tent was gone. We think we had put it on the table neat the tent yesterday when setting it up but now it was nowhere to be found. It must have been blown away or something.
Miraculously we found it just lying behind a little hill in a little dip in the ground where it was wind protected. It's really unbelievable that it has not been blown 100 miles over night with that wind out there.
That event raised the atmosphere a bit and we went to the communal kitchen, left the few leftovers we had and walked over to the lookout to get one moore glimpse of the Glacier before heading back to the Paine Grande Refugio.
We spotted a couple of huge condors doing their rounds and then just staying stationary in the air and surveying the area.
Along the way we ran again into the Australian Couple. As part of our converstations along the trek concerning food we had already made up a plan for the two days we had left in Patagonia before taking the plane back to Santiago and then to San Pedro.
We wanted to go to Argentina to get a proper steak. Now, our new Aussie friends knew just the place in Calafate but couldn't remember the name. They said they would let us know via email once they remembered. So far so good.
It was time to head back to Paine Grande now so that we would not miss the ferry.
The last kilometers were more than just a walk in the park but we eventually got there. The sings of distances and durations were not to be trusted on this part of the trek (well, any part of the trek for that matter).
It was a great relieve when the Refugio finally showed up after coming around large rock face.
There it was, just another couple of hundred meters now.
And ..... we made it. We did the entire Torres de Paine Circuit.
It was not always easy, but we certainly got rewarded with views, people and memories along the way.
There was certainly a feeling of success in the air! All well done! Arriving back seems to be the best part of a trek :-).
We still had time to get an overpriced can of coke and a bad sandwich and then jump on the ferry and catch the bus to Puerto Natales.
It did not take more than 5 minutes until I dozed off (the boat and the bus were really cozy and warm).
Back at the hostel we spread out all our wet clothes and things we had in the backpacks, charged our devices and set up the tent in the park for it to dry.
It took only a few mintues with the sun being back and the southern patagonian wind blown.
A dog quiltro(chilenian for Street dog) watched us while we waited with a coffee for it to dry out.
Back at the hostel we met the Alaskan Guy who gave us the Chilies and agreed to meet up at a bar for a big burger... just the thing we needed now.
He knew a good place with big burgers and home brewed beer. How could live get better than this?
We spent another 2 hours, rearranging all bits and pieces that had to dry and taking a proper shower again and freshening up and all.
It was also wonderful to talk to Yuni again after 10 days in the wild.
Then it was time to get the burger and the beer.
The place was called Baguales and we was perfect for a return from a long trek like that. I can only recommend this place to anyone who has been talking and dreaming about a fat juicy burger for 10 days.
Ohh.. the starter was spear ribs of course! :-) - It was even reasonably priced although we would have probably had paid crazy money for it if they had asked.
Since both, Kai and I love spicy food and asked for some sauce they brought out not only four different spicy sauces but also a bottle of vodka that had chillies being soaked in it. Apparently it is some sort of local speciality. It was certainly not the "Absolute Peach" Vodka that the writing on the bottle claimed it to be.
It was pretty strong.. the first one was free .. but I liked it so much that I even ordered one as a desert.
The whole meal was brilliant... great atmosphere, great food and drink ... just the perfect (long anticipated) Dinner.
We got back late to the hostel and had to pack up the tent that was hanging above our beds and set the alarm for very early again.
