Regresso a Escuela

Back to school it was for me today. And I was excited about it!
The day started with a nice cup of coffee at the hostel and then a short walk down to the School "Escuela Bellavista".
The school was in a three story apartment building with 4 or 5 class rooms each on the first and second floor. The rooms were quite small, only space for 5 or 6 students and the teacher.
On Friday I was told I should check the assignment sheets to find my name and then my class. I did and quickly found my class room.
Ricardo would be our teacher for the morning class. I good, funny, Chilean guy!
I got my study book but (same as back in school) I forgot my notepad and pen.
We only had 5 students in our class, A German guy (well two, including me) and each an Australian, English and Jordanian girl.
The class began very quick for my understanding... Ricardo just started speaking away in Spanish. Very basic, slow sentences but not an english word in them.
Surprisingly (although I thought I didn't know anything but "dos cervezas por favor") I was able to figure out what was going on on a very basic level.
We could even answer some of the questions going by the book we had been given. I think we were all a bit surprised (positively) about the approach and our heads were steaming when after 90 minutes lunchtime had arrived.
We got empanadas for 1000 peso and I ran out to the shop to get a notepad and a pen (and some chocolate for the steaming head).
The second class was with a girl, but she was not as good as Ricardo.
We finished at 13:30 and I headed back to the hostel for a break. In the afternoon there were voluntary classes on (free of charge) where we were going to watch films, do some cooking or just have a chat with each other.
Until then I needed a break from this exhausting student life. But I also needed to buy some stamps in order to send off the postcards that Kai gave me.
It is not that easy to find a post office in Chile and I would have to walk all the way to Plaza de Armas (2 km) and didn't have the time to do so as I had to be back in school at 3pm.
Todays film was an Argentinian favourite "Hijo de la Novia" the (Son of the Girlfriend).
Luckily there were subtitles and I was sitting there typing in every third word into google translate to get at least a bit of an idea of what was going on.
It sort of worked but I very wrecked at 5pm when I headed back to the hostel. No chance of just taking it easy though as my friends from yesterday were still there and of course they had not to work too hard to convince to have a nice burger couple of beers with them at the bar just next to the hostel.
It didn't go all that long as last night but it wasn't bad for a school night either!
