Another morning where I stayed in bed until 10. Lazy Andi, I know. but there was not much on the schedule for today. Because of the Dashain festival we most of the shops were closed and also the Trekking offices where we had to get our premits were not open. On the other hand I still didn't know which trek I was going to do. My preference was to do something in the Annapurna Conversation Area, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be the entire circuit or the Annapurna Basecamp.
I arrived here in Nepal with the intention to get some ideas in the Hostel in Kathmandu, meet people and decide then. Originally I though I may be able to do a short 3 or 4 day trek and then come back to Kathmandu, but the people I talked to all came back from the Everest Base camp or the Annapurna Circuits whihc are very long treks (12 to 16 days). Slowly my preference shifted towards one of those treks. I just wasn't sure with whom and if we would need a guide, if we should do an organized tour or just head off on our own. Lots of people had lots of opinions and in the end it came down to either the Annapurna Base Camp trek or a shortend version of the Annapurna Circuit.
I also met two guys with similar plans and fitness/experience levels. Mikael from Sweden and Mattias from Chile. We got along very well and still had to get gear and permits, so a good bit to sort out before heading off. And again, no chance to do it this day due to the Festival.
The rest of the time I spent in the Garden of Dream, which was a suggestion of the Belgium guys, and just around the corner of the hostel. This is a royal British Garden, which costs 100 NRP entry and is a bit of an quite oasis in the hectic streets of Kathmandu. To be honest I got bored in there after about 30 minutes sitting around.
I also used the chance of this lazy day to do some washing (well give my dirty cloths to the receptionist).
