Back to Kathmandu

Another day of getting up early, but this time I wouldn't have minded staying in bed a bit longer. No choice though, so it was off to the bus stop and onto the bus to Kathmandu. I was obviously tired and fell asleep and woke up for the first couple of kilometres. After a short stop and a big breakfast I found enough energy to stay awake, similar to the way to Dumre.

Along the way I noticed though how much sitting alone on a bus or train and looking out the window is part of travelling. You see people sitting in front of their houses, working on their shops, kids playing in the streets, then you see magnificent landscapes passing by. All this without having to move a centimetre. It is a great way to enjoy getting to know a place a bit better without much effort. I think it is a very big part of travelling, just sitting there looking out of the window.

The last bit of the busride (the part where I slept on the way out of Kathmandu) was a very steep road along the cliffs and there were many, many overloaded lorries that needed to be overtaken, while motorcycles overtook our bus. It was pretty close sometimes but somehow everyone know how fast they could go and when they had to slow down to make sure the oncoming car could pass.

After driving down the dusty roads towards Kathmandu City centre we all got dropped off somewhere near Thamel and I had to make way back to the Hostel. Somehow Thamel seemed so strangely familiar and soon I was back at the Hostel, checked in and had my favourite: "Chicken with Cashew nuts".

I quickly got to talk to some Dutch guys and a German and it was good night. No chance of catching up on the blog, as planned. This would have to wait until tomorrow.
